Hossan

We were talking to a shopkeeper that was called Hossan, he told us all about his life as a shopkeeper.

He was saying lots of people steal from his shop even his friends. They steal clothes and he wants more security cameras.

Hossan also said ‘ I think the thing that would help, it’s probably impossible, is to make people richer’.

Sam, Tesco Security

We also spoke to a security guard,he told us that people steal every day, usually alcohol.

Sam the security guard said he asks why they steal, they usually say “I have no money’’ so he takes the drink and lets them go before leading them to the food bank.

Sam said he loves the area. ‘I love this area, the community is nice, people are nice and people respect one another’.

John in the Library

This is a quote by John in the library next to Roman road on his opinion about crime. ‘I’m from Ilford, I like the community and the green spaces. I like the wildlife, the birds, the foxes and cats. I like the big park. To reduce crime, I think people need to be treated fairly, we need to get rid of poverty, there is too big of a gap between rich and poor. To make things better they should stop letting rich people make all the decisions and let people in the community make decisions for themselves.’
